Hope

Hebrews 6:13-19For example, there was God’s promise to Abraham. Since there was no one greater to swear by, God took an oath in his own name, saying:“I will certainly bless you,and I will multiply your descendants beyond number.”Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised. Now when people take an oath, they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And without any question that oath is binding. God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.

I have found it is very hard to have hope sometimes. So many times in life there seems to be no hope. Things seem like they are always going wrong or not going at all. Those moments of time where it is so hopeless you just want to quit.

I have felt like the best thing to do is run away to canada and live in a hole in the ground in the middle of nowhere…

Life is hard. BUT there is hope!

I was interviewing someone recently and he said something very interesting and encouraging.

“The worst thing will never happen to me. The worst thing is dying without Jesus and going to hell.”

I was interviewing him about his bankruptcy and how hard that was for his family.

So no matter how bad things may get in your life. There is always at least hope that you will get to spend your life after death in heaven. In the middle of hardships it is easy to forget that hope. We focus so much on the current moment that we stop looking at the light ahead of us.

Hebrews says Abraham was given a promise. God said He would bless him and create a blessed people through him. But Abraham was way to old to have children when God promised that. But Abraham waited patiently…

I am not good at waiting patiently…The current culture we have has created a “must have it NOW!” mindset. So when things are hard we may think God will help me…but when He doesn’t send a bag of money in the next 5 minutes or 2 weeks we start to loose hope that He will EVER help us through…

God’s promise to Abraham was 10 years. Can you trust God for 10 years when you don’t see His promise coming to pass?

Hope is an anchor.

When those storms of life crash against you. Anchor yourself to the hope of home.

Holdfast!

God Bless!
