“God is compassionate and just, loving and holy, wrathful and forgiving. WE can’t sideline His more difficult attributes to make room for the palatable ones.” ― Francis Chan, Erasing Hell: What God Said about Eternity, and the Things We’ve Made Up
The church of Corinth was a sinful church. They were letting may other ideas of the culture into their ideas of Church and Christianity. Many of them were focused on the grace and freedom we have in Christ. They were living very sinful lives. They were accepting the nice things of God and ignoring the harder things of God.
In America, there are many who are becoming or are already much like the church in Corinth. There must be a Spiritual awakening. People need to stop only believing that God is loving and forgiving and remember that He is Holy and just and Wrathful.
In order for people to come to a realization that they need to repent and turn from their sin; WE as the church need to have the boldness (through the Holy Spirit) to confront them. We, myself included, have gotten so comfortable thinking, “its ok they aren’t married, living together and having a child together is like being married.”
Stand up for Christ! He isn’t a happy old grandfather who gives everyone candy. He is the creator of the universe, who shows great grace and love to mankind, but who will judge sin in its time.
If you are living in sin; repent and turn to His salvation.
