If you’re a Marine thank you for your service. This is an awesome poster!
This poster is true for all of life not just boot camp. This world is hard. There are so many times when it would be easier to just give up. It may be a Drill Sargent in your face, but it may be your boss or spouse who is the one yelling in your face.
Jesus says in John 16:33
“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
Jesus also doesn’t promise a rose garden. He promises hard times and heartache, but He doesn’t stop there. He gives some hope that you can make it!
Jesus, just like that poster, just wanted to give everyone a heads up…
“I wanted to let you know, this life thing…Yeah…It’s going to punch you in the face…Hard! Just thought you should know so when it happens, you will be ready for it and wont get knocked out.”
That’s what I hear when I read Jesus’ words. Paul says a similar thing in Romans 5:3
“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.”
Not only will we have bad things happen to us, but we are told to rejoice in them?!?!?!?
When we continue to have joy in those hard times it grows endurance in us and Romans 5:4 helps us to see a little more…
“And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.”
Character and hope!
Just as the Marines promise it will not be easy, they promise they will give you the chance to build endurance, Character, and a hope for a better America. Jesus promises we will have the chance to build endurance, Character, and hope of Salvation!
So Keep Moving Forward!
Jesus gives many other promises when we keep moving. So keep it up! I will leave you with this promise…A hope of Salvation!
