Have you ever hoped for something then was very upset when it didn’t happen?
I have. Once I was looking for a new job. I found one that sounded perfect. I applied for it and got a call to have an interview. I was very excited! I believed that God was going to give me that job. I put all my hope into that job.
Well I got to the interview and it went so well. I was sure I had the job! A few days later I hadn’t heard anything. I contacted the HR person I had the interview with and she didn’t really say anything. More time pasted…finally I got a call from the HR person. It was not the call I had expected. I was told that they filled the position. I was so upset I could barely think straight.
I blamed God. I thought, “God I’m your child so You are supposed to bless me and this job was my blessing. Why did You take it away from me.”
After a few hours I got over it. I realized what I was thinking was totally wrong.
I am a child of God and He will bless and save me, but He is the one with the plan. That idea that the job I applied for WAS His blessing for my life was wrong.
Think of it this way…
You go to the store with a friend/spouse/sibling/parent or whoever; your there to by Christmas presents. You split up in search of gifts. After awhile you come back and had the other person something you bought and say here this is the gift you bought for me. Meanwhile, the other person had spent that time looking for something for you and had picked something perfect and bought it for you.
That is just like God, He has created a great gift for each of our lives. He already has it in His hands held out to us. But if we bring something else over and try to place it into His hands, it will fall. He is already holding something for you.
God doesn’t lie.
Psalm 119:160The very essence of your words is truth; all your just regulations will stand forever.Psalm 33:4For the word of the LORD holds true, and we can trust everything he does.Numbers 23:19God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?Hebrews 6:16-19Now when people take an oath, they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And without any question that oath is binding. God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.Jeremiah 29:11For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
So when opportunity comes along, whatever it may be. Ask God to show you if it IS the gift He has planned for you. When you ask Him He will answer you. Somethings look perfect to us, but from His point of view (outside of time and space) He can see much clearer then us.
