Drunkenness Part 1

Are you ever in situations involving alcohol? It seems that our society is consumed with all kinds of alcoholic drinks. Whats interesting is that we aren’t happy with the idea of drinking alcohol, but the mindset is that of consuming so much that we cant think anymore. Here’s what I mean; I was recently invited to a party for a friend. On the invite it said, “bring a gift and I’ll bring a gift of food and booze for you.” That’s fine I don’t a problem with alcohol. So my reply was, “I am coming. Just to let you know I’m not a big drinker. If that helps in your buying.” The response I received irked me like crazy. He said, “We will teach you.”

Why MUST we live in this desperate need to loose our self awareness?

It seems as though this obsession with drinking enough to forget who you are stems from fear. Once I was told to have some liquid courage. Our society is drowning in fear. We are so afraid to look at someone in a store or on the sidewalk and talking to that person is way out of the question.

The Bible talks a lot about fear. One of which is 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” Only through “Perfect Love” can we have no fear. What “Perfect Love” is this verse talking about? 1 John 4:8, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” God is the “Perfect Love” we need  to live without fear.

Watch for part 2. A story of two brothers trying to figure out the world.
