Running

There are different seasons in life. In my life, there have been seasons of walking, sitting, and running. These seasons can be good or it can bad. Looking at the back, I come to the conclusion that each of them has a time and place. We need to be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit to know if we are flowing with what He wants to do in our lives. 1. Walking is defined as moving at a normal fairly slow pace. When I think of walking, I think of the old saying; slowdown take time to stop and smell the roses. That is why walking through life can be a good season. Jesus spent a lot of time walking around. While He was walking is when He did most of His ministry. When you look at His miracles it is very often when He was on His way somewhere and stopped and gave people His time. So in life don’t be in too much of a hurry to get through it and miss the beauty and opportunities along the way. On the other hand walking can be a bad season. The problem I see in walking isnt really that walking itself is wrong, but that at times, we should be moving on to another season.

2. Sitting is defined as…well Im sure we all know what sitting is…although, the second definition for sit is to engage in business. This reminds me of when Mary and Martha where visited by Jesus. In Luke 10:38-42 is the story of the two sisters hosting Jesus and the disciples. Martha was working hard attending to the guests, cooking, cleaning, and making them feel comfortable. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a good host. Mary was not helping with the guests, she was sitting at Jesus’ feet listening to Him. Martha got mad and wanted Jesus to yell at Mary, but instead Jesus said sitting listening was the better thing. There times in life when we need to be moving (walking) and there are seasons when we need to sit at Jesus’ feet and learn from Him. “Be still and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10. Sitting can also be a bad way to go through life because you will never get anywhere or do anything. That season of sitting and learning must come to an end. We need to take what He has given to us and use it to reach other people. Mark 16:15 “He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” It would be very difficult to go into the world if you never get up and start moving.

3. Running. Running is moving faster then walking and never having both feet on the ground at the same time. There are many times in my life that I have found myself running. When you run you either need to be running to something or running from something. At times I have found that both running to and from things are good for my life. Running to…running toward God and His plans for you will always improve your life.

1 Corinthians 9:24, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.” Hebrews 12:1-2a, ” Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith”

God is always working. When we run toward Jesus Christ we will find the path He has set out for us and we Will be able to run with endurance. Everyone has a path they are destined to run, but it’s up to you to get on that path and run with all you have.

Just as Hebrews 12:1 says running away from the sin will give us the opportunity to not get entangled by the nasty filth of the world. If we do get entangled in sin we will not be able to follow the path God has set out for us. In my life I have seen that some people do the opposite. They have been hurt by church people or the filth of the world and have started running from God. They do all they can to stay away from the plan God has for them.

We all need to be careful in each season to listen to the voice of God and follow it. Whether you are in a season of walking, sitting, or running; find and stay on the path God has for you and your life will be blessed.

God Bless!
