Three crosses

On this good Friday; I was reading in Luke 23 of the crucifixion of Jesus. As I was reading, it dawned on me the imagery of the three crosses. It is an interesting picture of our world. The idea that because of Jesus’ sacrifice we are left with 2 sides. When we realize we are going to pay for our sins, just as the 2 criminals we will make a choice. In this world there are 2 types of people; people who look to Christ for help and people who deny He is God.

The hard truth is that this life is a path to death and it is unavoidable. Likewise the criminals were going to die right there and then. The Romans would make sure of that.

Because Jesus Died and Rose again He has given us the freedom to choose life. At some point in everyone’s life we will all face the reality of death. There will be punishment for the sins we commit in this life. Jesus has taken the punishment for you already when He hung on the cross.

Romans 3:25-26

“For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.”

When you are faced with this realization that someone will pay for what you did in life, will you choose to not believe or will you choose to say, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom” (Luke 23:42).
